Running for Day One Trauma in Leeds

Last year the AAG IT Services raised over £500 for Day One Trauma, a Leeds-based charity. And this year, we have bigger plans…

Day-to-day, we support local businesses with their IT; it goes without saying, as we’re a Managed IT Support provider.

We’re also a people business, though, and the people of our business care not just about the day-to-day work but the support they can offer beyond “have you turned it off and on again?”

That’s why last year, our entire team took part in the 100k in June challenge for Day One Trauma, a Leeds-based charity. Yes, even our IT technicians, who stereotypically sit in a windowless room all day working like trojans through tickets, got out to soak up some vitamin D.

And this year, we’re going bigger.

Who Are Day One Trauma?

Day One Trauma are more than just a charity, they represent the courage and resilience of individuals who face life-altering events. They provide essential support to those affected by major trauma, whether it’s from accidents, falls, or road collisions, ensuring that patients and their families aren’t left to face their challenges alone. Working closely with NHS major trauma centres, Day One Trauma helps rebuild lives by offering practical assistance, emotional support, and even financial guidance.

Fundraising for the Leeds-based Charity

In 2024, we embraced the challenge, and our team came together for the 100k in June challenge. We teamed up and competed to see who could achieve the most distance; all 11 teams completed at least 100k steps, with Team 8, led by Megan, taking home the crown with a whopping 653.47km (Megan alone did 414.36km).

We collectively raised more than £500 for Day One Trauma, albeit at the cost of some sore legs.

We didn’t stop there, though! Later, in September 2024, we proudly sponsored Major Trauma Awareness Week, amplifying the critical conversation around trauma care and shedding light on the incredible work that Day One Trauma does every day. Which also meant we donned our best orange gear for Go Orange Day.

And this year, we’re going bigger

As a team, we constantly challenge each other to better where we’re going. And that’s why we’re challenging ourselves to raise the bar once more.

We’re gearing up to take on the 100k in June challenge again, but with added focus (hopefully more money raised). This time, some of our team are using the 100k in June as part of training for the 15k Tough Mudder on 6th July.

The brave few who decided to take on the challenge are pictured below. Mark Swift will also compete in the Round Sheffield Run on Sunday 29th June (a week before Tough Mudder!) This is an 11-timed stages trail run around Sheffield, totalling 20km.

More Than Just Fundraising: Our IT Support Commitment

While we’re out there pushing our limits and running miles for a good cause, our support for Day One Trauma goes beyond physical challenges. We ensure their IT and technology not only keeps their operations running smoothly, but also enhances their efficiencies. The team on our Service Desk are always on hand to troubleshoot, enhance cybersecurity, and keep the charity’s systems up and running (we say always, excluding when they’re out plodding for the 100k in June steps, they’re good at what they do, but not that good…)).

But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what Day One Trauma had to say about working with us:

“The team at AAG are always really responsive and helpful when there is an issue. They explain everything in plain English and are always patient. Thanks so much, guys :)” – Pippa Hind-Walsh

“Brilliant service – tickets are dealt with in a good manner and response times have been great. Also shoutout to Mark Swift for getting everyone involved in fundraising and all the support around it.” – Emily Smith

A Partnership Built on Purpose

Our partnership with Day One Trauma has only just begun, but is already a testament to what can be achieved when the people within businesses get together. Whether it’s through our fundraising efforts, sponsorship initiatives, or the IT support that underpins their essential work, we’re honoured to stand by Day One Trauma’s side.

Join us as we continue this journey of making a difference—because at AAG IT Services, we believe that supporting our community is at the heart of everything we do.
